Hi, first of all I have to say I really like this software. I've been using it for almost a week now and just last night I was trying out the MIDI looping function into my DAW with some plugins and it sounded very good. Earlier today I downloaded some .sty and .prs files from a website and I was wondering if there's a way to either import them or whether they go into a folder within the Jjazzlab program? I'm using Windows 10 BTW. I'd like to try them out and as far as I can tell this doesn't seem to be mentioned. Thanks.

First thanks for the feedack ! In order to add new Yamaha styles: Go to menu Tools/Options/Rhythms : there is a directory defined for user-provided style files (which you can change if required). Upon startup JJazzLab will scan this directory (you can also force a rescan from the Options/Rhythm). Then when you're in the structure editor and click on the rhythm, the rhythm selection dialog opens and the new style files should appear in the rhythm list of the "YamJazz Standard Styles" rhythm provider. Important: the newer .sty files (SFF2 format used by Tyros 3 and later) are not supported yet, read this doc page for more details.

Thanks Jerome. I got it working. ) uncle808us, I see you're using the Mac version. I have that installed as well but it's different in the Windows version. I had to go to "Users" then my username and in the "AppData" then "Roaming" file folder there's a "jjazzlab" folder and inside that folder is another folder with the version number, in this case "1.0.4.1" and then inside that folder is the ".jjazz" folder. Then after you open that folder there's another folder called "YamahaBuiltInFiles" and that's where your .sty and .prs files get moved to. Obviously this will be different on a Mac computer. Maybe Jerome could let us know how to do this in the Mac version.

Thanks Kenmac: I've been to my library/application support/ jjazzlab/ 1.0.4.1/ jazz" folder but did not see in that folder anything mentioning "YamahaBuiltInFiles" So I have to hear from Jerome. Hopefully with the answer. Thanks for the time. This is a nice piece of software. Hope I can get this part of it working.

Sorry did not know you were running on Mac OSX: on Mac this is called Preferences, it's found by selecting JJazzLab => Preferences in the main menu.
It's better to define your own user directory for rhythm files (.sty etc.) in the Options/Preferences. The directory referred to by Kenmac (.../AppData/.jjazzlab) is a working directory created by JJazzLab, it stores user settings and other stuff, it should not be used directly by the end user, it may be changed or be deleted by future releases.

Thanks for that Jerome. I'm dual booting Windows 10 and Mavericks on a Mac Pro so this information will come in handy for me as well. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I'm using Windows 10. I've been trying to get my extra STY and PRS into JJazzLab 1.0.4.1. Working in the Tools>Options>Rhythms (shows C:\User\Owner ) I found my system scan files at C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\jjazzlab\1.0.4.1\.jjazz\YamahaBuiltinFiles. I copied 7 (sty/prs) directly into the aforementioned folder and nothing was added to the program. I changed folders to rescan their stored directory. And Rescan added nothing to the list. I have an additional 61,000+ (sty, prs) to add. I need advice or a tutorial on adding stuff.

- Go to Options/General and select Show Log window - Put your files in C:\User\Owner (or the location indicated in the Options/Rhythms panel for User Rhythm Directory) - Click Rescan - Inspect the Log window: JJazzLab will display warnings (quite common) and errors while reading the style files. If the added style files are at the newer SFF2 format, JJazzLab 1 won't be able to read them. Tell me if you see something weird. FYI I'm about to release JJazzLab 2, I hope this week, I'm updating the. JJazzLab 2 can read both SFF1 and SFF2 format, is more robust at dealing with file errors, has better sounds and better rendering of style files, and can better deal with large collection of style files. So I strongly suggest to switch to the newer version when it's available

I love the update. I'm still working on getting additional sty, prs, sst files into JJazzLab 2.0.0. I'm thinking something is missing in the program. I've been checking out other songs uploaded here in this Forum and notice the .sng, .pdf and .mix songs files. I don't have .mix type files associated in my JJazzLab C:\Program Files\JJazzLab or C:\Users\Owner\JJazzLab\Rhythms. Is that an issue? I'm using Windows 10. I've been trying to get my extra STY and PRS into JJazzLab 2.0.0. Working in the Tools>Options>Rhythms (shows C:\User\Owner ) I need advice or a tutorial on adding stuff.
