Some first thoughts:
A favourites menu, or shortcuts, to mark most used rhythms and songs, etc.
The open dialog box needs to be more Mac-like so it is easier to navigate around.
Start/stop playback using spacebar. Other shortcuts for backing up to repeat a section. Maybe there are some shortcuts that I have not yet discovered.
I still can't get the metronome and the precount to work.
Maybe playlists, or practice lists would be useful.
I'm new at all this MIDI stuff, so I'm not sure what other software can be plugged into JJazzLab.

Thanks ! I understand but not simple actually because I use cross-platform dialogs. It should work already. Space=start/pause. ctrl-space=play from here, ctrl-shift-space=play & loop selection. The shortcuts are displayed in the Windows menu, maybe not under Mac OSX... Also see here www.jjazzlab.com/en/doc/chord-leadsheet-editor/www.jjazzlab.com/en/doc/song-structure-editor/> I still can't get the metronome and the precount to work. That's not normal, it should work. Next version (almost complete) will contain more options to control click.

Hello I think you missed my post from 2 days ago, thank you : "Hello, congrats for your great work, really inspiring taking in consideration easy of use and the big number of styles resources from the web. Beside the fact that a Vst version for Mac will be really amazing and I will pay for it 100% (or in the begining at least a midi sync and why not midi in functional), I have another a big request if that possible, when I export the midi file all the parts have one bar of silence before the midi track starting, do you think you can do something about it? I tried to understand why is that and was impossible for me to get it but if that thing has a point can you please do a option in preferences to have the midi file without that silence bar in front (i want to mention I never make a full track inside of Jjazlab with more parts of the style, I export just individual parts of the style (mains, fills, intros) and import them into Ableton and use it there as scene, so that break bar its an editing killer for me...) Also will be great when is playing and load another style to go directly with the new one without stop play, and also to have the option to "lock" the tempo when changing the styles, so these 2 things will make the audition much smooth (at least for my case). Thank you so much Waitting news from your part George"

Hi George,
VST host: it's clear it would be a great plus. I have not started to look at it yet, but I think it will a LOT of work. I'm not familiar at all with VST API so I would love some help from experienced developers on this topic.
Option to not include the leading bar Midi export: yes, doable.
Sorry I don't understand.
In the rhythm selection dialog, uncheck the "Change tempo" in the bottom left corner.

Jerome thanks for getting back to me "Option to not include the leading bar Midi export: yes, doable" when do you think we should have this? "Also will be great when is playing and load another style to go directly with the new one without stop play," Sorry for my formulation, I give you an example: you play a style A and its running and upload style B and that style takes it over but unfortunately in my case when loading style B it is changing just the midi instruments and tempo but the pattern is the same from A so I need to stop and play again to that pattern plays correctly The same when in the middle of a pattern for example play Main A from a style and then when I change to Main B that is never comes, I need to stop and press play to hear it. (i waited more bars to happen to be sure) these things are really good for smooth audition of the different parts and styles without interruption Looking forward to your kindly reply Thank you George Hi George, VST host: it's clear it would be a great plus. > when do you think we should have this? Honestly, no idea. It's not a lot of work but low priority. If you're a developer I can tell you which files to modify.
Ok now I understand the style change "on the fly". It's not possible, would need a complete redesign. I'm not even sure it's doable with the current internal Java sequencer.

thanks Jerome, its clear now unfortunately i am not a developer, regarding the first blank measure it's about a C++ modification? Or just Java? regarding the on the fly thing is clear thats is a lot of work, so no bother thanks a lot George > when do you think we should have this? Honestly, no idea. When you Import an SGU MGU etc.. you could get it to prompt if it's 3/4 or 4/4 as Biab gets that info from the Style it's using. BiabTools does this www.alfwarnock.info/alfs/abc.php

musocity Yes I thought about this too, but when I tested the feature on many BIAB files, answering the dialog each time was tedious. As most of the files are 4/4 and fixing the time signature after import is done in 2 clicks, I chose to leave it like this. Maybe I could popup a notice "you need to fix the time signature" the first time that the BIAB import feature is used ?

Where is the SGU Import element ? I looked in importers in the latest source.

The BIAB import feature is not yet open-sourced.

This is a 3/4 import but I need to change every section where the 4/4 is, there's no global setting is there ?

Change the time signature on the first bar, JJazzLab will ask you if you want to apply this time signature for the whole song.

It's not asking me.
I haven't played around with it enough but maybe you could have it up the top.
