Hi, my teacher assigned me Summertime to play so I'm sharing the backtrack here. This is the video where I practice on it.
I hope you like it.

Hi Doctor, Not too bad for your early stage learning guitar ! I think you have a solid motivation and I'm sure you'll get better and better, especially if you like and practice so called "Jazz-standards" like Summertime - a tune you can play with a lot of different harmonisations. Some comments :
1)when learning a "standard", first is to get rid of the chord progression (what you obviously did) 2)learn the exact tune either by ear or with a partition ( I personnally do both) 3)I noticed that you play the tune staying on position 5 of the guitar neck. That's good - it's much better than jumping back and forth on the neck or just play on one string E.
In your performance the tune you play is not correct ("fish are jumpin' ") the note "fish" is the same as "Sum"-mertime. I send you my "worksheet" on which I've gathered the partition (extracted from Blue Book) . The tune is in Am (you play it in Dm). As you can see I've inserted my personal chord sheet - it is made with excel. In addition to the chord name I can draw the diagram under each chord. Try to play it in Am and listen to the tune mesure 4.
If you'd like to get a virgin chord sheet in pdf I can send it to you. Also I can send you a copy oft the Blue Book where you have +/- 700 partitions (tune, chords , and text ... great !)
VoilĂ my young friend. Have a nice WE hans

Cool, thanks for your feedback I'll try to work out through your remarks
What is it the blue book is something I can still purchase as a printed thing?
I still prefer to have the physical medium when I have to learn,
Many thanks,
Federico

Hi Frederico, I guess you can find and buy the paper version - I personally printed the pdf file.(takes a certain time...).But now I use it mainly in pdf when searching a song - then I "cut out" that song with my favorite pdf reader (pdf x-change) and export the selected song in jpg format. After that I can print on paper the selected song e.g. to prepare a jam session. I can send you my pdf if you want:

Hi Brau,
You can ask Mr Google : "PDF great gig book blue" and you'll find different ones. I got mine at "Agelfire.com" as shown on the screenshot. The download starts immediately and it takes a certain time as the file is big. I see you are a guitar player. Blue book is my favorite as you get a partition, chords and text. I also use another pdf "Le Baudoin" which containes only chord charts (good ones !) for jazz standards. Try to find it on the net - I don't remember where I got it from.
Of course I use every day Jjazzlab which over a short time (less than 2 years) became a fantastic tool to play > 1000 jazz standards and make your own ones. The next version 3.1 expected this month will include a very riche collection of guitar chord diagramms - very usefull !
bye hans
