Hi everyone,
I have taken the time to visit a few sites regarding Yamaha styles. While it seems clear who these styles can be created/edited if you have a Yamaha keyboard it is not clear to me if there is any software that can be used on a x86 machine to do the same.
Unless I am missing something, I have not been able to find any software (hopefully free) that would allow me to edit/create Yamaha styles the same way you would if you hand a Yamaha keyboard. Maybe some kind person could point me in the right direction as to where I should be looking. My preference is Linux with Windows further down the list as far as an O/S platform is concerned.
Thanks!

Hi Kcops and welcome here ! I'm not sure but I think most of the editor tools out there are designed to tweak the parameters of a style: change format SFF1/SFF2, change CASM settings, change the sound used for a given track, etc. Not to edit music phrases. Actually Yamaha styles are standard Midi files. You can directly edit them using a DAW. Tip: make sure you display a Marker track, it will show which part corresponds to which variation. You may have to learn about some CASM settings (e.g. source chord). JJazzLab 2.3 will add a new feature to facilitate creation of your own styles, see here
