Hi Jerome,
I find Jjazzlab really cool ! I found one issue thath prevented me from using it more:
I imported another soundfont instead of the JJazzlab-SF. It is importable, JL uses the instruments of the SF, BUT: I cannot choose the instruments from that SF. JL will always offer the "standard" and the "Jjazzlab SF"-instruments to me. Very sad, because there are better free instruments on the web that some instruments in the Jjazzlab-SF so I'd like to use those.
So the instruments selector should look into the SF and offer the instruments that are availabe there.
Thanks
jo

Hi Jo and welcome! You need to use the Output synth editor to tell JJazzLab what sounds are in your SoundFont. If your SoundFont (and your SoundFont player) is GM compatible, then just apply the GM preset. If not, you need to add a Midi Synth via a Cakewalk Instrument definition file (.ins), so that JJazzLab knows which instruments are there. See this online doc. Side note1: if it's a large soundfont I recommend you use VirtualMidiSynth (or FluidSynth if you're on Linux). With the Java internal synth you may encounter some "ghost notes". Side note2: Most Yamaha styles use XG drum map. Most drum sounds in SoundFonts use the GM drum map. JJazzLab makes its best to convert when possible, but it's not always possible. This results in weird drums/percussion sounds. The JJazzLab SoundFont uses XG drum map, and with many styles this makes a huge difference.
