First, great program you've created, Jerome Jerome. It is truly remarkable to come up with such an application. I especially like the fact that it has an interactive user interface(you'll understand why soon) to create sections of the songs and input chords.
Before I found your program, I have been using a program called Backing Track Maker (BTM). It is similar in functionality to yours but you create the songs by entering chords in bars in a computer code way. Apart from the code input vs user interface difference, the other difference is that BTM uses the style on the Yamaha arranger directly to create the song/backing track. The style has to be selected on the keyboard and then the keyboard is connected to the PC by usb cable. But yours can load the style file itself which makes it more portable and removes the dependency on having the arranger keyboard around. My observation is, the sound quality from BTM is so much better compared to the same backing track created with jjazzlab. Since BTM uses the style on the arranger directly, the original voices on the keyboard is used and they sound fantastic compared to the sound from jjazzlab.
Question: Is there a way that I can use the voices on the arranger keyboard directly when creating songs/backing tracks in jazzlab? I have tried several combinations of setting the outputs and midi inputs but it still uses sounds from the soundfonts installed on the computer and not the one from the keyboard. I love the application (jjazzlab); I just want to be able to use the stock sounds on the keyboard even if I'm copying and moving the style into jazzlab to create the song/backing track. I hope anyone can help me with this. Thank you.
