I'm unable to install JJazzlab-4.0.1 on debian 11 (Bullseye) doe to a problem libfluidsynth. When I try to install with gdebi, I get the error message: However, I cannot find libfluidsynth3 anywhere. Another thread on this forum says that it can be installed using But apt cannot find this package (apt says "Unable to locate package libfluidsynth3"). Does anyone know how to get the deb file for libfluidsynth3. Alternatively, I could install an older version of JJazzlab, but I can't find any deb files other than for 4.0.1. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Fluidsynth.org has a deb package called fluidsynth for debian but does not have a package called libfluidsynth3 for debian. The only thing called libfluidsynth3 is for Cygwin, which provides GNU and Open Source tools for Windows systems.

Try to install the ‘fluidsynth’ package, it will install the shared library as well. Keep us informed.

With my repository list, installs version 2.1.7-1.1
This isn't the current version but it's fine for me, at least for now.
The fact that I'm not getting a newer version may reflect my system. I'm currently running debian 11, not 12. And/or I may need to change the debian repositories I'm using. That's on me (I'll straighten it out when I have time).
Thanks

Have you tried starting jjazzlab after installing FluidSynth? 2.1.7 should be fine for JJazzLab.
If FLuidSynth is still disabled in JJazzLab (you can see it in Options/Midi Out), send me the output of: "dpkg -L fluidsynth"

Have the same problem with LMDE5 (Linux Mint Debian Edition based en debian 11):
- Fluidsynth is install - apt refuse to install jjazzlab because of libfluidsynth3 instead (for debian 11 libfluidsynt2 is 2.1.7-1.1
dpkg -L fluidsynth /. /etc /etc/default /etc/default/fluidsynth /usr /usr/bin /usr/bin/fluidsynth /usr/lib /usr/lib/systemd /usr/lib/systemd/user /usr/lib/systemd/user/fluidsynth.service /usr/share /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth/README.md.gz /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth/TODO /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth/changelog.gz /usr/share/doc/fluidsynth/copyright /usr/share/man /usr/share/man/man1 /usr/share/man/man1/fluidsynth.1.gz

@ magicvince If fluidsynth is already installed, you can use the JJazzLab .zip package. When you start JJazzLab, if you get a warning that fluidsynth version is too old (<2.1), you'll need to upgrade fluidsynth. Also this post may help.
