Hi, JJazzLab 4.1.1 embeds 49 Yamaha styles, 44 standard + 5 "YamJJazz extended" (.yjz). For each of this style, I'd like to optimize the default rhythm mix for FluidSynth. It means finding the "best" FluidSynth instruments and their configuration (volume, pan, effect, ...) so that the rhythm sounds good with FluidSynth. It's important because most of new users will start with these embedded styles and FluidSynth. It's normal that styles do not always sound good from scratch, because they are meant to be rendered on a Yamaha keyboard arranger, not on FluidSynth. That's why we often need to lower/raise volume of some tracks, change instrument or panoramic, sometimes transpose or even mute a track which sound too weird on FluidSynth. So could some of you guys take some time to optimize say 5 default styles each ? This will help me a lot, thank you in advance ! See the next post for the "HOW-TO" -it's really simple actually.

HOW TO HELP PREREQUISITES: you must use JJazzLab 4.1.1 with FluidSynth enabled. Options/Midi must look like: STEP 1: start JJazzLab 4.1.1, load song TestDefaultStyles.sng (15.87 KB) STEP 2: change rhythm and select a rhythm from the "default" Directory (see complete list in the next post) STEP 3: play the whole song and use your hears to adjust the mix in the mix console. The goal is to get rid of the most obvious problems. If you hear a problem, I suggest to try one change at a time, in the following order: - change volume - change instrument - change pan (keep drums/bass center, but you can pan a bit left/right 2 complemtary instruments like piano and guitar in order to widen the stereo field). - change effect - mute instrument (sometimes it's better!) STEP 4: once it sounds good to you, use Save as default rhythm mix from the mix console menu. If you used eg Jazz/MediumJazz.sty, you'll get a new Jazz/MediumJazz.mix file. REPEAT from STEP 2 for another default rhythm. --- To find the .mix files you just created: in the rhythm selection dialog, select any default rhythm and use Open folder, as shown below. Then you can post the .mix files here (use Edit attachments), and they will be integrated in the next JJazzLab release. --- On the next post I'll update the list of default rhythms so that you can see which rhythms need to be done. THANKS !
