@ wossnameJJazzLab 4 will support a "NC" chord symbol, which makes no sound.

What would you like to see in future versions of JJazzLab ? What feature is missing in current version ? How to make JJazzLab better ? ... Share your thoughts here Do NOT report bugs in this thread, create a separate thread for thisFor some of the not-so-young users :-) could the contrast of the menus (font color and background) be improved? thanks

Regarder dans 'outils/options/éditeur', comme indiqué par aum improvement suggestion: 1) dark theme; mint linux with dark theme as default, makes app menus etc dark - ok; but chord leadsheet editor's background is white/light theme; also song structure editor and mixer editor backgrounds are light; i have managed to get approximate desired result, but not all sub-window items can be set - the desired look of the app is not achieved. i used 'tools / options / editor', and set colors for available fields.

@ musocity export to XF support: not sure to understand, what JJazzLab would gain from this ?

Hello all and first of all, thank you very much for creating JJazzLab. I found out about it yesterday and tried it on Linux. My thoughts for improvements on Linux are JJazzLab only appears to support sound output to pulseaudio in Linux, which means that there's a lot of audio latency. This is not a problem when using JJazzLab to only play backing tracks and using an acoustic instrument to jam, or if you have a hardware synth running through a hardware mixer to mix the audio of JJazzLab and the hardware synth, but it becomes a massive problem when you are trying to play a virtual instrument running on the same computer or when you run an electric guitar through the soundcard input, due to the audio latency problems when using Pulseaudio. People who use Linux to produce & make music will generally use jack audio, which takes care of these issues. Would it be possible to, or are there plans to add jack audio support for JJazzLab under Linux? For example, Tux Guitar has a set of plugin modules that performs such a function. I too have put a search in regarding this issue. I have a usb midi controller and, in ubuntu studio .the latency issue is massive. A shame as I'm becoming a fan of Jjazzlab together with polyphone. I'll keep experimenting as I don't wish to ditch Jazzlab. regs. P Just answered my own question. In ubuntu studio, Started Qjack, Qsynth and then Jjazzlab. Voila. Sorry all if this is elementary. P.

I think a great update would be to add a "midi to style" tool, so we can transform any midi file to style in a easy way

I think there are already free software which do that.

In essence, once you've navigated all that's available in jjazzlab, it does what it says on the tin. vis. auto accompaniment. it does it well. there's not a lot more can be done within that heading.
I'd love to compose a melody and get it accompanied automatically or record a play along track to jjazzlab accompaniment. I suppose that makes it another application.

I play a C Instrument (Guitar) but there is no accommodation for C Instruments. Or am I wrong? Is there a C Instrument option in version 3.2.1? How can I convert JJazzLab to a C Instrument? Is there a way?

? If you write a C chord, JJazzLab will generate music for a C chord, without any transposition -unless you enable the "playback transposition" (the button with the sax icon).

Just wanted to put a formal request/suggestions for the ability to have styles share MIDI channels.
If I'm assuming correctly, this would make it so there would be little to no limitations on style changes in the middle of songs?
Again, great software, thanks so much, hope you're enjoying what's left of summer!

As a total newbie to JJazzLab, here are some suggestions that would've made my experience much better...
1) Provide a song library that works out of the box... The JJazzLab-Realbook.zip at the top of the Resources page gave a style missing error for every single song I opened from it.
2) Unify terminology: "Rhythms" or "Styles". I was confused until I realised they were one and the same.
3) Explain on the Resources page with the jjazzlab_users_styles.zip that you need to rescan the Rhythm files directory (Tools > Options > Rhythms... Rescan). It took me a while to discover this!
Even after properly installing jjazzlab_users_styles, many of the songs in JJazzLab-Realbook throw a style missing error. Often the style (or a very similar one) is present, but is named differently (e.g. AllGodsChillunGotRhythm.sng needs FastJazz.S499.sty. Neither the built-in or jjazzlab_users_styles libraries have that style/rhythm but, they both have FastJazz.S741.sst).

For all I know you can't distribute the style files however you want. Yamaha proprietary rights notice. Not every style in Realbook songs is (C). I have 2593 (actually 2591 since two of them are duplicates) songs in my JJazzLab-Realbook directory. Of these, there are 24 unique style files in use. Of the 24, I have 13 in my Rhythms. And of the 13, 3 have Yamaha (C). I don't know the other 11.

1) Provide more Drum transformations, i.e.: fills (utilizing toms, cymbals and other percussion instruments). 2) More section colors to chose from. 3) better ability to change instrument's. 4) Adding more instrument's. 5) Ability to repeat a section (By Midi command) for live use. For example on a 3rd verse used for someone to solo on, you could allow 8, 16, 24 bars if needed so that several band members could solo. The repeating of the section could be controlled as needed.
